Nancy Bilyeau has worked on the staffs of InStyle, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, and Ladies Home Journal. She is currently the executive editor of DuJour magazine. Her screenplays have placed in several prominent industry competitions. Two scripts reached the semi-finalist round of the Nicholl Fellowships of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. Her screenplay "Zenobia" placed with the American Zoetrope competition, and "Loving Marys" reached the finalist stage of Scriptapalooza. Cover Reveals

I've come across some new covers this past week or so that I wanted to share.  I love cover reveals!

 

Blessed (Tantalize, #3) by Cynthia Leitich Smith

 *I haven't read the first in the series, but enjoyed the 2nd.  I plan I reading Tantalize before this one comes out!

*I love the idea behind these novels.  And for some reason the covers are simple but convey a message.

Cover Similarities

I've begun to notice an interesting phenomenon in the publishing world.  It's become more noticeable since I started blogging and more and more books that I would never know about come to to my attention.  It's not really bothersome like say the whitewashing of covers, more along the lines of annoying.  What am I talking about?  The use of the same cover over and over, only changed in small little ways.  I'm curious as to how this process works.  Do publishing companies think that because books are different genre's or different publication years, that we won't notice?  Is there a collection of stock photo's that all publishers have access too?  Take the following for example...

 Now, Tantalize and Ivy are bother young adult.  But, different publication companies and different years.   Goodreads has a few different covers for Ivy (but I wonder if its still the same model).  The Homeplace was the first of these novels to come out.

What I thought was amusing about these two was that the title are so similar.  Both of these will be (or have been) released in 2010, but once again different publishing companies.

 Now, I know this is just the tip of the iceburg.  I've seen lots of others that look similar and even some that are hard to tell if it's the same cover.  These were ones that have been sticking out in my mind lately.  So what do you think about this?  Does it bother you or do you not really care?

Cover Wars - Thirteen Reasons Why

I'm trying out something new.  I've been trying to post reviews 4 days a week while participating in book meme's the other 3.  The problem is I don't always read 4 books a week.  Eventually I'm going run out of reviews (and I like my reviews to post a week or two after I finish reading them).   I don't  really want to participate in another meme.  But, I'm having trouble coming up with something original for my blog.  So, I'm going to play with a couple ideas for my Saturday posts.  I'm thinking something different each Saturday of the month.

       So, my first Saturday post is going to be different countries covers of my favorite book for February.   If you haven't read Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, I highly recommend it.  It was amazing!

                   

I'm not sure how to tell which cover belong to which countries :)   The first one is the one we get in the US.  And, I know the second one is the paperback version in the UK.   The red one reminds me more of the covers for adult suspense novels.  I assume it's suppose to be Clay on the cover of the blue one.   I like the tape one the last one.

I think my favorite in the US version.  I like the setting (the park fits in so well with the story).  And Hannah looks so lonely.   It's very fitting.
