SPOILER (if you haven't read Hex Hall) Description: Sophie Mercer thought she was a witch.  That was the whole reason she was sent to Hex Hall, a reform school for delinquent Prodigium (aka witches, shapeshifters, and fairies). But that was before she discovered the family secret, and that her hot crush, Archer Cross, is an agent for The Eye, a group bent on wiping Prodigium off the face of the earth. Turns out, Sophie’s a demon, one of only two in the world—the other being her father. What’s worse, she has powers that threaten the lives of everyone she loves. Which is precisely why Sophie decides she must go to London for the Removal, a dangerous procedure that will destroy her powers. But once Sophie arrives she makes a shocking discovery. Her new friends? They’re demons too. Meaning someone is raising them in secret with creepy plans to use their powers, and probably not for good. Meanwhile, The Eye is set on hunting Sophie down, and they’re using Archer to do it. But it’s not like she has feelings for him anymore. Does she?

After reading Hex Hall, I was definitely eager to get my hands on Demonglass. Hawkins has created a lead character that I really adore!  I think I liked Demonglass even more than I liked Hex Hall.

The story starts of with a bang.  Sophie gets thrown into a pond all tied up with no clue how to save herself (as a school exercise).  Of course long lost Dad shows up just at this precise time.   He wants to take her to England so she can learn some family history and all about being a demons.  Since she gets to take Jenna with her, you think this would be fun right.  Yeah, not going to happen.

I loved that chain of events.  We learn a lot about Sophie's history in this book.  I liked learning about how a demon is made and how this could be connected to what is going on now.  I also really liked learning more about The Eye.  Of course we get more of Archer, but I'm still not sure of him.  I guess time will tell.

The ending was such a cliffhanger.  I loved the sequence of events that lead up too it.  The truth was a little bit of a shocker for me.  I can't wait until the next one (which is way to far away)!
